What We Believe
Lake Martin Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a Reformed denomination formed in 1973. Located in Eclectic, AL and serving the greater Lake Martin community, we hold to the historic Christian faith as summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Larger and Shorter Catechisms — a doctrinal standard shared by Reformed and Presbyterian churches for nearly 400 years. Below is a summary of what we believe and why it shapes everything we do as a church.
The Bible — Our Final Authority
We uphold the Bible as the inspired, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God. Scripture guides every aspect of our faith, teaching, worship, and practice — it is not one voice among many, but the final word on matters of doctrine and life.
Prayer and Worship
We believe in the power of prayer and the significance of corporate worship. Each Sunday, our congregation gathers to sing, pray, hear God's Word preached, and respond together in faith – because worship is the whole churches response to who God is and what He has done.
Salvation Through Faith in Christ Alone
We affirm that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and that He is the only way to reconciliation with God. This is the heart of the gospel we preach every Sunday: that sinners are saved by grace, through faith, apart from human works — a free gift from God to all who believe.
The Church and the Great Commission
We believe the church is the body of Christ on earth, called to worship God, build up believers, and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19–20). We welcome both local residents and Lake Martin visitors into our community centered on the gospel. As a young congregation on Lake Martin, we take this seriously in our own context — welcoming both year-round residents and part-time lake neighbors into a community centered on the gospel.
